Applications for Brady Scholarship now being taken

The Juneau Community Foundation, together with the Brady family of Skagway, announces that the Margaret Frans Brady (MFB) Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications for its 2026 arts scholarships. Up to $10,000 in total scholarship funding will be awarded to qualifying area students who are pursuing artistic excellence.

Application forms can be found on the Juneau Community Foundation website at www.juneaucf.org/fund/margaret-fransbrady-fund/. Completed applications and all requested materials must be submitted no later than midnight on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

The Margaret Frans Brady Fund was established in 2012 at the Juneau Community Foundation to support arts and education projects and programs in Skagway and northern Southeast Alaska. A separate Margaret Frans Brady Scholarship Fund was created in 2013 to assist students and artists in the region by providing scholarships to help them develop and strengthen their creative abilities. Since its inception, the scholarship fund has awarded more than $98,250 to over 100 area students.

Scholarships are available to students pursuing creative arts, including writing, music, visual arts, and performance arts. Funds may be used to support participation in arts camps, schools, colleges, symposiums, or conferences.

The scholarship committee expects to announce this year’s award recipients in May. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the taxexempt nonprofit organization or educational institution that the awardee will be attending.
